CHURCH LIBRARY

You are invited to borrow books from our Church Library which is located downstairs in the Lounge, a comfortable room for browsing, reading or studying. There are approximately 400 books currently in our collection and more are added every month, including titles by such favourite authors as Philip Yancey, Bill Hybels, and Max Lucado. Topics available include books for personal devotion, help for life's crises, social issues, parenting, biographies, fiction, and various reference books. The goal of this library is, as the apostle Peter states in his second letter, that everyone may "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ."

CHILDREN'S LIBRARY

Trinity's Children's Library brings a wonderful ministry to our pre-schoolers, young adults, and the whole family. Some of the new titles available include "God's Little Story Books", "Prayers That Avail Much", "Moses and The Burning Bush", and "How Big is God's Love" just to name a few. Our growing collection of Veggie Tales videos hold great appeal for all ages - there is always a lesson to be learned! Music is also available. Items can be borrowed for two weeks at a time. This library is located downstairs in the Fellowship Hall beside the elevator. Happy reading, watching and listening!

We have an elevator entrance at the front, and an usher is always present at Sunday services to operate it.

Ushers (plus recently updated signs) will help you find whatever part of the building you need. Nursery care and children’s programs are available. If you need a ride to any church service or event, please contact Diane at the church office (905-852-6213), and she will help arrange one

United Church Women

The names have changed over the years - we have been the "Women's Missionary Society" and "The Ladies' Aid" among others - but the fact remains that throughout our history, women in the church have always gathered to serve in Jesus' name with our unique talents and considerable abilities when we join together in a common purpose.

The purpose of the U.C.W. is "to unite all women of the congregation for the total mission of the church and provide a medium through which we may express our loyalty and devotion to Jesus Christ in Christian witness, study, service, and fellowship."

Women of all ages are invited to any of the monthly meetings (September, October, November, February, March, April, May) which meet in the chapel downstairs on the first Thursday of the month at 2:00 p.m.

We have three joint potluck supper/meetings each year (December, January, and June), and we often invite the women of other United churches in the area, such as Epsom, Utica, Zephyr, and Stouffville, to join us.

Each meeting includes Business, Worship and a Program. The program might be a local speaker on a topic of general interest or a video on a topic of worldwide significance. It is always something new and interesting! We also plan ways to serve our church family and the community, including hospitality, rummage sales, the annual Tour of Homes, and much more...

Each meeting concludes with fellowship and refreshments - UCW is a great place to make new acquaintances and deepen friendships.

Friends

We invite men and women with developmental disabilities to join us for a programme of great singing, drama, skits, prayers, stories about Jesus’ love and ending with refreshments.

We meet every Wednesday from 7 p.m. To 8 p.m. from September to June there are many special events, such as Remembrance Day Tribute, Fashion Show, Talent Show, Christmas Banquet, Closing BBQ, as well as invited special guests to entertain and teach.

This is a non-denominational gathering and is open to everyone, so if you know of anyone who would benefit from this ministry, please invite them.

Youth

Our Senior Youth group, for high-schoolers and young adults, meets at 7 p.m. every Friday in the Youth room located on the lower level of the church.

We are a Bible focused Youth Group and are learning how the Word of God is the best tool available to assist us in coping with today’s social problems and is just as relevant today as it was two thousand years ago.

We invite any interested youths to come and bring a friend to our new exciting youth programs.

Remember to bring your friends!!

Office Hours are Mondays and Wednesdays 1pm - 5pm,

                         Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am - 2pm

Sunday School

We offer a children's program during our worship service for children in grades JK through grade six.

Children begin the service with their parents then go downstairs for Sunday School in the chapel after the children’s moment with Pastor Kirby.

Sunday School follows a similar format to the service upstairs but with more activity based learning. We sing songs, listen to stories, colour, play games, make crafts and sometimes participate in re-enacting Bible stories. Our goal to finish the programme in time to return children to the Sanctuary during the singing of the last hymn to be reunited with their parents.

Our curriculum this fall and winter will focus on the study of The Lord’s Prayer and learning the significance and meaning of a different line each week. Interspersed throughout the fall and winter will be some weeks with a special craft or a story and colouring activity so kids can join back in upstairs earlier in the service for Communion.

If you have any questions about our children’s programme, please don’t hesitate to contact the church office or Cindy Finlay, Sunday School coordinator at cindy.finlay.ca@gmail.com
